Great Gifts for Men and Women

Do you know someone who is an exercise nut or someone who needs to exercise. The holiday season is coming, there are many low priced gifts that are great for the athletic enthusiast or for someone you would like to motivate to exercise. To chose a great gift for an fitness enthusiast, find the sport or activity they like best. If they are into bicycles, gloves or a camel back would be great. If they are a runner, sneakers, timer or ipad carrier would be appropriate. For your home exercise enthusiast, resistance bands, exercise video, or exercise gloves.

Karen W. Wyman created a great list of best fitness gifts for your favorite athlete.

Fitness Bands

Fitness bands are lengths of stretchable rubber that mimic the resistance of weightlifting. Lightweight and portable, they’re great for travelers, or for the home fitness enthusiast who doesn’t have a lot of space. Prices start at around $6 for a single band, but I like the $30 Black Mountain set that comes with several bands and a carrying case. Sturdy bands, comfortable handles and good instructions make the product easy to use.

Kettlebells

A kettlebell is a weight attached to a handle, but without clunkiness or space concerns of dumbbells and barbells. I like GoFit’s contoured kettlebells ($30 and up) because they lift more smoothly, don’t bang into your forearms and come with a Bob Harper DVD. Beginners should start with the 7 lb. or 10 lb. size.

Smarties

These pressed-powder, dextrose candies make great stocking stuffers for weightlifters on ketogenic diets and low-carbers who like to work out. Each roll delivers 6 grams of pre-workout dextrose, just enough to pump up your workout without refilling liver glycogen stores or knocking you out of ketosis. $24 for a case, but grocery stores carry smaller packages for $3 – $5.

Just Dance 3

Available for Wii, Playstation and Xbox, this dance game is too fun to be called exercise. The routines range from easy to complex, and you can do as much or little as you like. Also makes a hilarious party game. Around $35.

Designer Whey protein powder

Designer Whey tastes the best, hands down. Vanilla and strawberry are good for smoothies, while chocolate tastes the best straight or stirred into yogurt for a pudding-like treat. Available as shakes or powder. From $10.

Here are a few ideas, If you’re still not sure what to give your favorite athlete or short on ideas for this holiday season. Most exercise enthusiast would love to get a gift that promotes their health and show you are interested in their fitness. Better yet, buy something for you and your loved one to share the health for the coming year. There are several wonderful strength and conditioning exercise videos for men and women.
